My mom and I have watched Gossip Girl together since Nate/Blair was a thing. During university I waited until vacation so I could watch with her in the off-season, covering my eyes and going la-la-la until we could pop in the DVDs. This December we watched all of the last season, pretty much back-to-back in our pajamas.
As we neared the end of this marathon we were feeling under-dressed.
“I feel like we should be wearing chunky necklaces.” It was my mom who said it, but I was thinking the same. So we donned jewels atop pajama tops, and poured our still water into cocktail glasses.
For Mama’s birthday I got her the Gossip Girl DVD’s and a Bauble Bar necklace for each of us. Season 1 Disc 1 goes in the DVD player, we put on our necklaces, and commentate on the inconsistencies. Just like Blair Waldorf, we dress for the occasion. It’s our new tradition, as fab as lunch on the steps.
