I am rather skilled in the art of finding excuses to visit the Albion Beatnik bookstore with great frequency. I enter to browse its selection of modern literature, but also to engage in its scrapbooked set-up, featuring ransom letter-esque shelf labels, its tables decoupaged with extracted pages. Besides books, hand-bound notebooks are for sale alongside paper roses and like, lamps.
One day I walked in on the book-making work in progress, as Lucie of Immaginacija sat stitching up her latest creations.
She started bookbinding because she could never find the perfect planner for herself – a woe we both share. Now she does custom journals, planners, books, and microbooks!
Many of her designs are made from recycled or leftover paper [as is the shelf decor, it seems!], and I’m excited to order my first bespoke planner as soon as my current Immaginacija notebook runs out of pages! I carry a journal and a planner with me pretty much everywhere, so owning a special one is quite important, I’d say.
P.S. Another glimpse of the Albion Beatnik…
