While we wear coats for warmth, the scarf is one-size-fits-all flourish of personality, an opportunity for expression transcending shape – oh the possibilities!
Applying to Oxford was, actually, applying for the privilege to wear a college scarf, which is of course the ultimate badge of cool. The stylish and refined object that defied The Statement Hoodie.
Now in my final months of uni, I have adopted a second scarf. One that brightens up the winter, that is as bold as it is merino-wool-warm. It has the super power of enhancing any outfit, of defying the forces of biting winter with its insistent optimism.
