One evening, glancing down at the mini podcasting studio I keep in my closet (acoustics.), I recognized a rush of dissatisfaction. It looked messy, cramped, and uninspired. So I pulled up my workspace board on Pinterest, dissected the vibe I was going for, gathered items I had lying around the house, and got to work!
Part of the inspiration was a Live Love Blog sign by Just Sayings I won in a charity raffle at the Boston Bloggers meetup. I was like “what am I ever going to do with this?”, and one of the options – hang it in my studio – sparked the redesign.
The details…
I topped this Harry Potter table (my dad found it on Ebay) with my beloved Cath Kidston single duvet from uni – the perfect size for a table cloth. The cushion is from the Orchard House; it’s a replica of the one Louisa May Alcott owned.
I took my own Feng Shui for Bookworms advice by gathering a little collection of FabulosiTEA-worthy reads. The tea box is filled with marbles to serve as a book end, with a lavender satchel on top!
I stack my MacBook Air on a filing box from the Container Store, which also stores my headphones when I’m off-air. I like propping my laptop up higher to avoid schlumping.
I gathered postcards, stickers, and magazine clippings to make a fabulous collage to gaze upon during recording. The flowers are from a café in Lenox; I pick one up each time I visit Shakespeare & Company.
I lined an old box lid with a magazine cutout to hold my pens, plus some Betsey rings and a pin Caroline gave me for Christmas!
Finally, I decorated my mic with my Crown and Glory bow from the Blogcademy! It covers up the annoying blue light that flashes in the front. Besides, my hair is now too short to accommodate the clip, so it has a new wearer, and I can still enjoy it.
What am I doing in my closet?
Join the tea party and find out! This week we discuss “Finding Your Own Theology”, from Greg Peck to Albus Dumbledore! After this episode you will understand why I have a Gryffindor chair.
