When the Monkey was in Amsterdam for work, I tagged along for a change of scenery, typing away in the morning, and exploring the city in the afternoon. I racked up some serious steps (one day my Pedometer read 34,000 steps!). Many of these were due to my not-quite-Amazing-Race-ready navigational skills, BUT most were fueled by the desire to keep wandering and keep listening to some really great podcasts.
By the journey home, I am proud to say that I was a lot better at telling those canals apart.
Here’s what I listened to, and where I explored
[The crazy thing is, I can look at the picture and immediately remember which episode I was on! Memory is a strange genius].
The 5 AM Miracle
I love the episodes that are like audio blog posts, where Jeff crafts together a productivity-related list and talks about it. Simple. He also does interviews with guests (UM like me. !)
I listened to:

MuggleCast
I’ve been a proud listener of MuggleNet’s podcast since episode 1, back when I had to figure out what a “podcast” was and how to download it! I’m a little overwhelmed with all the Potter news swirling about lately, and can always count on MuggleCast to break it down and keep me up to date. I will forever associate northwest Amsterdam with Puckwudgie.
I listened to:

Rob Has a Podcast
I started listening to RHAP for the Survivor discussion, but Rob got me hooked on The Amazing Race as well, and now I am even excited for Big Brother 18 to start (what??). If you watch any of these shows, you really need to hear his commentary: so insightful and positive and a really amazing community.
Since we’re in the off-season, I happened to catch some less show-specific podcasts: News AF for all the weird news stories, and an interview with tv editor Molly Shock on how reality shows are edited and stories are crafted in the post production. FASCINATING.
I listened to:

Punk Rock Personal Development
Such intelligent conversations about self care and personal development. I end up following all of these women on Twitter at least. These days so many interviews just skim the surface, but Sarah dives DEEP and the conversations go in such interesting, real directions (including one with me! fashion + minimalism + mental health + the pottermore sorting hat quiz galore)
I listened to:

Two Inboxes
Business inspiration without being too businessy. Molly Ford Beck interviews hardworking humans in corporate jobs who juggle a side hustle. It’s really about people pursuing their passions on top of their super busy work lives. So inspiring, and makes me believe that anything is possible! These people are SO inspiring, but also so relatable.
