Today I make a special birthday announcement. I’m writing my first book.
As you know, I’ve spent a lot of time in the mountains lately, and every night I would return home to the tent to scribble down post ideas. Post ideas turned into longer ideas, and longer ideas turned into well, why not let’s just write a whole book.
So that’s what I’m drafting right now. My memoir of travelling, expectations of self and experience, indecision and insecurity. With a bit of fashion and minimalism of course.
So that’s coming soon.
On my birthdays and new years I like to reflect. And today that has led me to the realisation that the best things I’ve done result from Just Doing Them. Listening to that tentative voice wishing for something and accepting that I deserve it, and deserve to try for it. So find that want – because you might not realise it’s trying to be heard – listen, and leap. The leap is extraordinary, terrifying fun. When you are able to hear that little “should I?” say YES. There is no harm in trying. Forget what ifs.
Go to a yoga class. Apply to your dream university. Go minimalist. Go vegetarian. Decide to do what you love for a living. Volunteer to go up on stage. Sign up for the Blogcademy. Take a chance on people. Wear a slightly ridiculous outfit. Write a book.
Those were the voices in my head. What are yours telling you?
Do things. They’re what make up life, right?
P.S. a recap of my birthday party
